Diverse Landscapes: The park's scenery is a major draw. You'll explore three main areas: the lush forests on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, the serene Momella Lakes, and the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater.
Unique Wildlife: While the park lacks the large predators of the Serengeti, it is home to a high concentration of giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, and buffalo. It's also famous for its vibrant birdlife, with over 400 species recorded, and the rare and striking black-and-white colobus monkeys that live in the forest canopies.
Walking Safari: This is the park's signature activity. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you'll get out of the vehicle and walk through the park's serene landscapes, offering a more intimate connection with the environment and a chance to spot smaller animals and birds up close.
Stunning Views: On a clear day, you can get incredible views of both Mount Meru, which dominates the park, and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, in the distance.
08:00 AM: You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha (or Moshi, with a small supplement) in a private 4x4 safari vehicle. The drive to the park's main gate is approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
09:00 AM: Upon arrival at the park gate, your guide will handle the entry formalities. The morning's activity will begin with a combination of a game drive and a walking safari.
09:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Your guide will drive you to a designated area for the walking safari. Here, you will be joined by an armed park ranger who will lead you on a guided walk. You'll hike through the forest, observing wildlife on foot, including giraffes, zebras, and various antelopes. The walk may lead you to a scenic waterfall or offer a close-up view of the black-and-white colobus monkeys.
12:30 PM: You'll stop at a designated picnic site for a packed lunch, which is included in the tour. This allows you to relax and enjoy the sounds of the bush before the afternoon's activities.
01:30 PM - 04:00 PM: After lunch, you'll continue with a game drive. This part of the tour focuses on the Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater. The lakes are known for attracting thousands of pink flamingos, especially during certain seasons, while the crater's floor is a swampy haven for buffalo and hippos.
04:00 PM: You'll begin your journey back to Arusha. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or a pre-arranged location, concluding your day of adventure.
